Honeywell PMT is currently seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for their Hopewell, VA location.

The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will interface primarily with hourly maintenance employees, salaried maintenance planners and foremen, and contracted maintenance resources as well as interacting with manufacturing personnel to provide technical support for electrical plant maintenance activities.

Responsibilities:


    • Prepare procedures/plans for critical Electrical/Power systems: Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Operator Monitoring, Critical Repair activities and Spare Parts, Bills of Materials, and Quality Assurance
    • Owner of Electrical Reliability PM program
    • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) teams and use the Apollo RCFA method where appropriate. Lead Reliability-focused Failure Modes and Effects Analyses teams
    • Analyze failures and recommend corrective action
    • Maintain currency with developments in the Electrical Power fields to recommend improvements to current practices
    • Provide electrical reliability and troubleshooting (Transformers, Switchgear, Transmission Feeders, Sub-stations, MCC's, Motors, Fault Coordination, Variable Speed Drives, DCS, and PLC) help as requested
    • Provide maintenance technical support for the Hopewell Plant
    • Troubleshooting, testing, evaluating results and safety
    • Ability to quickly respond and appropriately assess issues in the plant including off-hours
    • Know when, where and how to resolve issues to minimize production downtime and ensure safe and environmentally responsible action is taken
    • Drive use and application of predictive maintenance technologies (infrared, transformer oil, current analysis, power quality)
    • Maintain exception reports and historical data
    • Become familiar with: NEC (National Electrical Code), NESC (National Electrical Safety Code), NFPA 70B (Electrical Preventative Maintenance), 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements), 30 (Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code), 497 (Recommended Practice for the Classification of Flammable Liquids - Hazardous Classified Electrical Installations)
    • Direct Plant Electricians to perform switching procedures under Plant emergencies (failures), maintenance (turnarounds) and new construction
    • Plant liaison between Dominion Virginia Power and the Honeywell Hopewell Plant
    • Schedule outages for maintenance and perform root cause failure analysis when outages or voltage sags occur
    • Understand load distribution, load planning (increase), and load shedding (if needed)
    • Perfect power is essential to meeting safety, environmental and production goals
    • Owner of Plant electrical coordination study to ensure proper trip settings are applied during PM activities and load changes (increase or decrease)
    • Support operations and maintenance on an as need basis
    • Implement new techniques and technologies, such as equipment reliability, predictive maintenance, etc. to continuously improve department operations
    • Direct a strong safety awareness program with a consistent implementation of policies and procedures
    • Arc Flash PPE requirements
    • Understand and partner in execution of Arc Fault Analysis as needed
    • Owner of motor repair procedures; familiar with motor applications and characteristics
    • Partner in development of motor repair contracts, etc
    • Support Maintenance in sizing of generators, temporary feeders, protection, and design guidance
    • Support Capital group for QA process (inspections of new equipment), spare parts recommendations, design guidance, and review of comment prints
    • Partner with SM Engineering Dept and Sites to establish Design Standards for Electrical Systems
    • Functional Owner of the Electrical elements of the Specialty Materials' Mechanical Integrity ITPM standards
    • Actively represent Specialty Materials in professional organizations such as PIP (Process Industry Practices) where appropriate
    • Other work as required

NOTES: 2 openings. Employer will assist with relocation costs.

Requirements

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering
    • 3 years of electrical maintenance/reliability experience in a petro-chemical plant environment

    Additional Qualifications:

    • 5 years of electrical maintenance/reliability experience in a petro-chemical plant environment preferred
    • Six Sigma Certification if possible
    • Knowledge of electrical equipment design, selection, and performance assessment
    • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
    • Demonstrated ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives
    • Able to manage multiple priorities
    • Strong problem solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
    • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement
    • Strong computer skills
    • Experience in controls and automation (PLC's)
    • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a lean manufacturing environment
    • Formal training in lean tools
